description

Dr. Tomlinson’s research passions are reinforced concrete, composites for construction, and connections between materials. During his PhD at Queen's University, he studied partially composite precast concrete insulated wall panels loaded under flexural and axial loads. He tested panels constructed using both steel and Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) reinforcement, developed techniques to evaluate the centroid of partially composite sections, successfully used Digital Image Correlation to evaluate slip between concrete layers, and investigated the validity of Basalt FRP in reinforced concrete structures.
